Latin American Doctoral Course in Education refines its design
(14.10.2008) At the end of September, the technical team for the Latin American Doctoral Course in Education, Education Policies and the Teaching Profession, met together to advance toward defining the curriculum design.
The doctoral course is led by UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, through its KIPUS Teaching Network, and the Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC).
First series of Ibero-American Teacher Training Symposia
(13.10.2008) The Ministry of Education of Spain with support from UNESCO’s Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO Santiago) is organising a series of symposia to encourage participating ministries of education to reflect on development of the teaching profession and teacher training trends.

Fifth International Encounter of the Teacher Network of Latin America and the Caribbean (KIPUS)
(22.05.2008) The KIPUS Network, under the coordination of UNESCO, will hold its Fifth Meeting on 4 to 6 June 2008. The event, conceived as a space for debating and formulating proposals on development of the teaching profession, will be held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica (Lima, Peru).
UNESCO organizes and international encounter on education and a culture of peace
(30.04.2008) For the purpose of contributing to the development of a quality education keyed to the comprehensive development of individuals, respect for diversity, and the elimination of school-related violence and discrimination, UNESCO's Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean in collaboration with the Cluster Office for Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, will conduct an international meeting on “Culture of Peace, Education and Teacher Training” (29 and 30 April, Quito).

(05.02.2008) During the international meeting “EDUCAVIDA a year later: Impact and Projections” held by UNESCO's Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean with authorities and social organizations of Ecuador, Paraguay, and Nicaragua, progress achieved in terms of rural population education will be assessed. Nicaragua will host the event scheduled to take place 9 – 11 April in the municipality of Estelí. The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministries of Education of the municipalities concerned, namely, Estelí (Nicaragua), Chunchi (Ecuador) and Horqueta (Paraguay), and representatives of collaborating development and education NGOs.
